The Better Business Bureau has given Buc-ee’s an “F” rating.
Founded in 1982, Buc-ee’s is known for its beaver mascot, “the world’s cleanest bathrooms,” cheap gas and homemade barbecue. The first-ever Buc-ee’s location was set to open in Goodyear this summer.
Several Buc-ee’s locations on the BBB website have received an “F” rating. Buc-ee’s has publicly stated that it does not respond to complaints forwarded by the Better Business Bureau, according to a BBB statement sent to USA TODAY.
The BBB is a nonprofit organization that provides transparency about businesses to the general public. They operate on a letter-grade rating system to help consumers get a better idea of a business’s practices.
The BBB said the current rating reflects Buc-ee’s decision not to participate in the complaint resolution process. The BBB recognizes Buc-ee’s as a “widely known and beloved brand,” it has reached out to the company and would welcome the opportunity to work with it in the future.
Here’s why and what Buc-ee’s BBB grade means for the Arizona location.

The Buc-ee’s Arizona groundbreaking ceremony in Goodyear on May 14, 2025.
The reason for the Texas-based travel center’s low ratings on BBB is due to its failure to respond to 88 customer complaints. The oldest unanswered submissions date back to March 2023, and the most recent was filed in February 2026.
Like Yelp, anyone can submit a complaint about a business on the Better Business Bureau website. Complaints vary from inquiries sent through the website going unanswered and erroneous card charges to broken or ineffective merchandise.
