WESTON, Wis. (WSAW) – Christmas tree shoppers looking for “The Tree Guy” this season will find a new face behind the business.

Jeff Nyberg, who operated the Christmas tree business for 26 years, has transferred ownership to Clearview Garden Center. Nyberg started the business by selling extra Christmas trees each year to buy presents for his family.

“They’re going to be able to do the things that I wasn’t able to do,” Nyberg said.

Leigh Presley took over ownership of Clearview Garden Center in 2021. While she knows plants and gardening all too well, she’s not too familiar with Christmas trees.

“Honestly, there’s a lot of expense involved in taking this over, so it’s good to just be reassured that we’re going to do okay,” Presley said.

“With my regular career and other business ventures, it was time to turn it off and over to somebody else, and so I’ve actually been looking for somebody for the last few years, and I heard a lot of good things about Leigh and her crew here,” Nyberg adds.

As the torch is passed from Nyberg to Presley, she’s excited to see the business flourish.

Jeff Nyberg called it quits after 26 years of selling trees, so the Clearview Garden Center is taking over

The garden center is also selling kissing balls and wreaths this season.

“We’re all pretty creative people. So, it was just fun to kind of use some of the natural materials that we have collected through our garden cleanups,” Presley said.

Nyberg said he has observed the teamwork of the Clearview staff in the months leading up to opening day.

“The vision they have for bringing things forward and adding new products, adding new things to their business,” Nyberg said.

Presley said both regular Clearview customers and former “Tree Guy” customers have already visited the location.

“It’s always about the people and just the fun that we have interacting with people. I’ve always enjoyed that. That’s why I’m in the business in the first place,” Presley said.

The store will be open from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. daily until their total of 200 trees is sold.
