Ventnor has received a $960,000 state grant to overhaul the key commercial corridor along Dorset Avenue with new lighting, accessible sidewalks and landscaping.
The project will span from the base of the Dorset Avenue Bridge to Monmouth Avenue, and from Calvert Avenue to Balfour Avenue.
The funding was provided by the state Department of Transportation.
The proposed improvements target a corridor that serves as a primary gateway for visitors into the city, according to a statement from the city.
The upgrade will include new street lighting, Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant sidewalks with warning surfaces, benches, bike racks and traffic markings.
The city will also add trees, ornamental grasses and perennials, along with tree grates and decking.
Additional work will cover site clearance, installation of new curbs, gutters, driveway aprons, and traffic control features such as bumper stops and flexible bollards, according the the statement.
