Fire crews battle flames, oil spill at Specialty Cycleworks
Somerset and Cambria county fire crews work to put out a fire and contain an oil spill April 28, 2025, at a motorcycle repair shop in Conemaugh Twp.
- Charges were filed in Cumberland County after a Pennsylvania State Police Vehicle Fraud Unit investigation.
The Pennsylvania State Police Vehicle Fraud Unit charged a local Somerset County business and a Bedford County man with advertising vehicles for sale for the dealership on Facebook’s Marketplace without being licensed to do so.
According to a media release, David Echeverria, 47, advertised several vehicles for sale at Mountain Boss Hoss Cycles in Friedens on Marketplace from July 1, 2024, until Nov. 17, 2025.
Both Echeverria and Mountain Boss Hoss Cycles were charged with summary offenses at a Carlisle magisterial office in Cumberland County for PA Board of Vehicles Violations Act.
According to Tom Shaffer, owner of Mountain Boss Hoss Cycles, his attorney is looking into it, and he had not received any paperwork as of Jan. 9.
“We’ve never had a state violation in 31 years,” he said. The business began 31 years ago.
According to the incident report, in July 2024, the Pennsylvania State Police Vehicle Fraud Unit located numerous Facebook Marketplace listings under Echeverria’s Facebook profile. He continued to advertise vehicles for sale until recently for a vehicle dealer, Mountain Boss Hoss Cycle.
“Several vehicles were sold in this manner even though Echeverria was never licensed as a salesperson for the dealership. The investigation found that Echeverria was also advertising other vehicles for sale for private individuals on Facebook Marketplace, which included locations within Cumberland County, PA,” the report said.
