Small Business Saturday, aimed at supporting over 33 million small businesses nationwide, is set to take place, with local shops like Rise and Redemption in Vacaville, gearing up for the event.”It’s become something that’s pretty big out here,” said Ashley Gall, owner of Rise and Redemption. “We have a check-in booth outside my store, we give out 200 free tote bags that are stuffed with stuff from other small businesses, and these actually are the best totes I’ve ever gotten as far as freebies are concerned.” Small Business Saturday was established in 2010 to help small retailers struggling during the economic recession. Gall said there will be some special guests around to help ring in the holiday season. “You get a map, there’s the Grinch, there’s Santa, and tons of businesses outside to support as well,” said Gall.
