NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A LendingTree report found that businesses in Tennessee are among the most optimistic about hiring six months from now.
The report, published Dec. 2, analyzed Outlook Survey data and business trends from the U.S. Census Bureau to look at hiring optimism across the U.S. Their analysis found that Tennessee was tied with South Carolina for seventh in the U.S. for hiring optimism.
About 14.8% of businesses across Tennessee expect to hire within the next six months, and only 8.6% of businesses expect staffing cuts. Mississippi, New Mexico, West Virginia, Missouri, Nevada, Arizona, North Carolina and Wisconsin were also among the most optimistic states for business hiring.

Across the U.S., businesses in the healthcare and social assistance; finance and insurance; professional, scientific and technical services; and manufacturing sectors were among the most likely to say they would add employees within the next six months.
Not only were businesses in the Volunteer State found to be optimistic, but the report found optimism this year to be higher than last year. LendingTree’s reporting aligned with a report from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville’s Boyd Center that indicated Tennessee’s economy grew this year — and the Volunteer State can expect continued growth next year, too.
