Several Buc-ee’s locations, including those in Tennessee, have received a failing grade from the Better Business Bureau.
The nonprofit organization works directly with businesses and consumers to promote ethical practices and help reduce “misleading or deceptive behavior.”
According to the organization, several Buc-ee’s locations have received an “F” rating because the Texas-based travel center has failed to respond to 88 customer complaints. As of March 12, 38 Buc-ee’s locations in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee and Texas received the low-grade rating.
Similar to review sites like Yelp, anyone can submit a complaint about a business on the Better Business Bureau website. Of the 88 outstanding Buc-ee’s complaints, the oldest unanswered submission dates back to March 2023, with the most recent filed in February 2026, as of March 11, USA TODAY reported.
What is the Better Business Bureau, or BBB?
Founded in 1912, the Better Business Bureau, or BBB, is a nonprofit organization that aims to provide transparency about businesses to the general public.
The BBB offers a paid accreditation program for businesses, allows consumers to leave public reviews and submit official complaints, and operates its letter-grade rating system to help consumers get a better idea of a business’s practices.
How does a business receive an ‘F’ rating from the BBB?
The Better Business Bureau assigns ratings on a scale of A+ to F. Ratings are based on information the nonprofit can obtain about the business, including public complaints, according to the Better Business Bureau’s website.
“BBB ratings are not a guarantee of a business’s reliability or performance. BBB recommends that consumers consider a business’s BBB rating in addition to all other available information about the business,” the group’s website says.
Which Tennessee stores received an F rating from the BBB?
Both Tennessee Buc-ee’s received the failing ranking. This includes the Sevierville (170 Buc-ee’s Blvd., Kodak) and Crossville stores (2045 Genesis Road, Crossville).
At the time of publication, Buc-ee’s did not respond to The Tennessean’s request for comment.
How many Buc-ee’s are there in Tennessee?
The Sevierville and Crossville locations are currently the only open Buc-ee’s stores in the Volunteer State.
However, the state will soon welcome its third location in Murfreesboro. According to the Daily News Journal, part of USA TODAY CO., Buc-ee’s founder Arch “Beaver” Aplin III celebrated the Murfreesboro groundbreaking Oct. 14, 2025.
The store, expected to be operational by December 2026, will open off Interstate 24’s exit to Joe B. Jackson Parkway on the southeast side of Murfreesboro, offering 220 gasoline pumps, brisket sandwiches, Beaver Nuggets, other snacks, souvenirs and clean bathrooms.
West Tennessee will be welcoming its first Buc-ee’s store in 2027, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal, part of USA TODAY CO.
Why was Buc-ee’s given an F ranking from the BBB?
The Better Business Bureau identified multiple complaints against Buc-ee’s which follow a pattern of the Texas-based company being unresponsive to customer concerns. Several complaints allege unanswered website inquiries and poor or rude customer service.
“In March 2025, when a consumer accidently purchased a car wash, she went into the store to see about a refund,” read one review. “Per the consumer she was met with rude employees who told her there was nothing they can do. When she tried to call corporate, she was unable reach anyone.”
“In August 2025, a consumer was told they could return a product and placed a note on the consumer’s receipt to ask for the manager but when the consumer came to return the product that broke, the same manager told them he wouldn’t help them,” read another.
