FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. — Spring break is in full swing on Fort Myers Beach, bringing in big crowds and boosting local businesses.
The influx of visitors has packed the beaches, bars, and restaurants, creating a bustling atmosphere in Southwest Florida.
Business owners in the area are experiencing one of their busiest times of the year. The difference in activity is noticeable, especially for businesses at Sunset Beach Plaza.
“It’s been crazy. It’s been packed nonstop,” said Terry Persuad, owner of multiple businesses in the area.
Tourists from across the country are flocking to Fort Myers Beach, filling bars, restaurants, and shops. Persuad shared that spring break has significantly increased their business.
“We triple in business basically,” said Persuad.
This surge is especially welcome after Hurricane Ian caused significant damage to the area.
“Most of these businesses were affected by Ian, so it’s a welcome sight to see the crowd and see the people spending,” said Persuad.
With live music, beachfront views, and vacation drinks flowing, the beach offers exactly what visitors are seeking.
“They just want somewhere to look at the beach and be right on the beach and drink pretty little drinks,” said Taylor, a bartender at Sunset Plaza.
As spring break continues for many schools, local businesses anticipate the crowds will keep coming.
