Residents in South El Monte have been advised to shelter in place on Wednesday as firefighters battle a second-alarm fire at a business, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.
Crews were called to the area of Tyler Avenue and Fineview Street at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday for a fire at a scrap metal business. It’s unclear what led up to the blaze.
NewsChopper4 was over the scene, where a large, dark gray plume of smoke was seen billowing over the community as firefighters battled the blaze. Due to the ongoing fire, residents near the scene are urged to stay indoors and lock all doors and windows.
It’s unclear if any injuries occurred in connection with the fire.
