HANCOCK, Mich. (WLUC) – Winter is coming, which means the dreaded activity of snow removal.
But not everyone has the time or the strength to do it themselves. One Houghton County business is hoping to help with that stressor.
“It always just seems like there’s a new stress piled on every day,” All UP Snow Blowing Owner Troy Bouman said.
Now coming into its fourth year in operation, Bouman says he has seen client numbers skyrocket during this period. What began as helping 75 Hancock households has now reached 600 across the county. Bouman attributes these higher numbers to increased stress in county residents.
“Snow is very stressful,” Bouman continued. “I think it can be a challenge for those who maybe physically can’t move it. But I think it’s also a challenge if you have a young family and you’re trying to get them to school in the morning and having one of the family members go out for an hour or more in the morning to fight snow just adds another element to life that is stressful.”
Bouman says escalating costs of living aren’t making things any easier for them.
“With budget concerns and other things that people have nowadays,” Bouman added. “I think it can be really challenging to just deal with the stresses of every day.”
To help those most in need, Bouman says the business is once again offering two free driveway all-season snow removals this winter. Community members can nominate a neighbor they think needs help the most.
“If anyone knows someone like that, I would love for you to nominate them,” Bouman finished.
You can submit nominations through Nov. 23. Bouman says he would like to work with the community in the future to establish a fund to help those most in need for snow removal.
