GENESEE COUNTY, MI – Snow day!
Some mid-Michigan students will have Friday off after a forecasted winter storm prompted school closures on Jan. 23.
A cold weather advisory is in effect for a region of southeast Michigan, including Genesee, Shiawassee, Oakland and Lapeer Counties, from 1 a.m. Friday until 10 a.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
Wind chills will drop temperatures down to as low as 15 to 25 below zero, forcing many area school districts to call off classes and businesses to temporarily close.
Friday’s closures include the following businesses and school districts:
- Holly Area Schools
- Madison Academy
- Flint Disability Network
- Richfield Public School Academy
- Flint Community Schools
- Mundy Township Senior & Enrichment Center
- Genesee Community Health Center
- Genesee Health System
