SAGINAW, MI – After watching their young children pretend they had a taco food truck underneath the dining room table years ago, Shayko and Adan Mosqueda played along.
While ordering through their pretend food truck, Shayko and Adan Mosqueda asked Caydince and Adan Jr. what their business was called. They answered, “Sis-N-Bros Tacos.”
From paper ingredients to real ingredients, Shayko and Adan Mosqueda made their food truck a reality. Sis-N-Bros Tacos was launched in 2022, Adan Mosqueda said.
“He told them, ‘Before you guys become adults, I will buy and name a food truck for you,’” Shayko Mosqueda said. “We’re the keepers of it for now, but this is their business.”
The wife-and-husband team have four children, Caydince, Adan Jr., Armando and Romileo, and they want to leave this business to them when they’re older.
At first, they operated under a tent selling only tamales under the name Tamales Especial. The tamales are made using the recipe of Adan Mosqueda’s grandmother, Gloria Mosqueda.
Once they made enough funds from that, Adan Mosqueda said they moved into a food truck, expanded their menu, and rebranded their business to the name their kids came up with.
They moved into a vendor space in the SVRC Marketplace, 203 S. Washington Ave., in November. Adan Mosqueda said they will still operate their food truck in the warmer months as well as the marketplace location.
SVRC Marketplace is an incubator for local small businesses and currently houses a variety of vendors. Other food-focused businesses inside the marketplace include:

Shayko and Adan Mosqueda both grew up in Saginaw and met in the eighth grade through a mutual friend since they attended different schools, Shayko Mosqueda said.
The next year, they both attended Arthur Hill High School and have been together ever since.
Their menu features the beloved tamales, tacos, burritos and elote. Shayko Mosqueda said the favorites include the elote tacos, tamales and the grilled crunch burrito.
The tamales are never frozen and they plan to distribute them in stores eventually, Shayko Mosqueda said.
“I get customers still to this day that they walk in and they’re just like, somewhat emotional ‘cause they realize they’ve watched us grow,” Adan Mosqueda said.
Sis-N-Bros Tacos is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. In February, their hours will change to 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
