SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) — Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evette made a stop in Summerville on Wednesday, meeting with voters and adding another endorsement in her bid for governor. State Representative Gil Gatch announced his support for Evette, joining a growing list of conservative leaders backing her campaign.
Evette spent the afternoon greeting constituents and speaking with supporters about the issues they say matter most. She emphasized that connecting directly with voters is a central part of her campaign.
“I feel so honored to have Representative Gatch’s endorsement,” Evette said during the visit. “It’s great to be down here today and shake hands with so many people and hear what they’re excited about the word has gotten out and people know what I stand for. What I hear all around the state is we want a business person at the helm. We do not want a career politician.”
Gatch represents District 94, which includes parts of Charleston and Dorchester counties. In Columbia, he’s known as a young conservative voice focused on government transparency, fiscal responsibility, and policies that support families and small businesses.
Wednesday’s event highlighted shared priorities between Gatch and Evette, particularly around government reform, support for the state’s workforce, and family-centered policies.
According to Evette, voters are consistently asking for leadership that targets everyday concerns.
“They want somebody that’s going to concentrate on roads, that’s going to look at cutting taxes, that’s going to make the everyday person feel the impact in their homes,” she said. “And for small businesses, they want somebody who has signed the front of a paycheck. That’s the expertise I bring to the table as governor.”
Her campaign says Gatch’s endorsement is another sign of her momentum heading into the next phase of the race. Evette also pointed to the growth happening in small towns across South Carolina as a sign of what entrepreneurship can achieve.
“Seeing growth in every one of our cities is just amazing,” she said. “This is the heart of South Carolina – when we can unleash the power of entrepreneurship, people feel like they can start small businesses and become part of the solution in their communities.”

As for what comes next, Evette says she plans to stay focused and finish her statewide tour.
“We’re just going to keep working really hard,” she said. “When I announced my run for governor in July, I promised we would hit all 46 counties across the state. We are like four counties shy. You want to know what every corner of the state is thinking because when you govern, you have to govern for everybody.”
Evette continues her campaign with events scheduled across South Carolina as she closes in on her 46-county goal. For more on Pamela Evette’s campaign visit her website.
