PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Pigeon Forge Police Department is investigating a hoax shooting and bomb threat at a business.

Pigeon Forge Chief Richard Catlett said officers responded to the report of an alleged planned shooting and bomb threat at a business. This prompted officers to secure the area, conduct an investigation and maintain a visible presence in the area.

After a search, Catlett said no credible evidence was found to suggest that any violent act had occurred or was imminent.

“The call that prompted the response is believed to be a deliberate hoax,” Catlett said. “A full investigation is underway to identify the individual or individuals responsible for making the false report.

Catlett added that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact PFPD.

Additional information was not released.
