An armed robbery is under investigation in Dracut, Massachusetts.
Police say officers responded to the area of 16 Pleasant Street around 6:10 p.m. Friday where the victim had just left a nearby business after closing for the day when two men wearing all black clothing and face coverings approached him.
One of the suspects was armed with a handgun, according to police.
During the robbery, the victim was struck in the back of the head with a blunt object, and he was robbed of personal items.
The suspects got away in a silver Ford Explorer toward headed toward Lowell, leading police to alert area departments to be on the lookout for the SUV.
Investigators later learned the suspects’ vehicle — that matched a description of one reported stolen out of Lawrence — was seen at an intersection in Lowell around 6:47 p.m. and then entering a garage on Maple Street.
Dracut police executed a search warrant at the Maple Street address with help from the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council SWAT Team on Saturday, locating the Explorer, which was towed.
Police didn’t say anything about the suspects, or if anyone was taken into custody.
There’s not believed to be any ongoing threat to the public.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Dracut Police Department at 978-957-2123.
The investigation remains ongoing.
