New Editorial Leadership for Twin Cities Business

New Editorial Leadership for Twin Cities Business

Table of Contents

Today marks the beginning of a new era at Minnesota’s only local business magazine. Longtime local journalist and current executive editor Adam Platt has been promoted to editor of Twin Cities Business and will lead its efforts to chronicle the people and companies moving our economy forward.

In addition, Twin Cities Business has hired Charlie Rybak in the role of editorial director, focusing on cross-platform storytelling elevating the presence of TCB across its channels to meet audiences wherever they receive their news. Rybak will also serve as vice president/innovation as part of the executive leadership team at MSP Communications, parent company of Twin Cities Business.

“I am honored to join the team to expand on the foundation that so many hard-working women and men have built here”, says Rybak. “I am excited to help find new ways to reach people that care about the Twin Cities, tell the stories of our local business community, and more. I think we are going to have a lot of fun.”

Prior to joining MSP Communications, Rybak served as COO of Cooperative Energy Futures and was co-founder of Minneapolis Voices, a digital local news organization. Rybak is a growth and digital media strategist with a degree from the George Washington University School of Media and Public Affairs.

“This is an exciting next step for our organization, and specifically for Twin Cities Business,” says Jayne Haugen Olson, managing director of MSP Communications. “Businesses today are looking forward and focusing on collaboration and innovation, while also leaning into their core brands and the unique aspects of their DNA.” (Olson also serves as editor-in-chief of Mpls.St.Paul Magazine.)

“Quality reporting and great storytelling will continue to make us a trusted resource for Minnesota’s business community,” said Shelly Elmore, publisher of Twin Cities Business. “With Adam and Charlie stepping into their new leadership roles, their vision and expertise will elevate our storytelling and strengthen our engagement with audiences through all of our products and channels.”

Platt and Rybak assume their new roles immediately.

MSP Communications is locally owned by Key Enterprises. Vance Opperman serves as CEO and general counsel, and Nathaniel Opperman is president. MSP also owns Mpls.St.Paul Magazine, TechChannel, Super Doctors, Studio MSP, and The Agency at MSP.
