NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Business records show that a business based out of Nashville is a subsidiary of an organization funding the construction of President Donald Trump’s new ballroom at the White House.
Reuters reported Thursday that Caterpillar, Inc. is among the donors supporting the president’s project. A financing arm of that organization, Cat Financial, is based out of Nashville.

Here are instructions on how to watch WSMV4 live on various platforms.
The Caterpillar Financial Services Corporation’s main office is located along West End Avenue in Music City, according to state business records.
The Associated Press reports that the ballroom is projected to cost $250 million, and that the president says its build is being privately funded through donations and his own bank accounts.
The project has been embroiled in controversy after many critics deemed it an overreach of power and questioned its legality, since the demolition of the west wing was started without the oversight of the National Capital Planning Commission.
On the other hand, the AP reports that the president and his supporters say the White House needs a better space to host large gatherings and events. The new ballroom will boast 90,000 square feet and be able to host 999 guests.
