GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A North Carolina man was arrested in connection with catalytic converter thefts in the Grand Strand.
Georgetown County Sheriff’s office charged Robert James Helton of Roseboro, North Carolina, with Felony Grand Larceny, more than $2,000 but less than $10,000.
Officials say that on Feb. 26, Helton hit three delivery trucks at Johnstone Supply in Murrells Inlet, before continuing what authorities described as a crime spree.
He was later picked up by New Hanover Police.
Helton is currently incarcerated at Cumberland County Detention Center pending extradition to multiple jurisdictions.
The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office also released security footage showing Helton stealing catalytic converters from Johnstone Supply.
