Valerie Daniels Carter, a pioneering entrepreneur and community leader in Milwaukee, has built a restaurant empire, holds positions with major sports teams, and supports entrepreneurs globally Valerie Daniels Carter, a Milwaukee pioneer, has built a restaurant dynasty with 138 franchises, including Burger Kings, and holds significant roles in sports, such as being on the Green Bay Packers board of directors and the first Black woman minority owner of the Milwaukee Bucks. “I love people,” Daniels Carter said, expressing her joy and energy. She attributes her success to her faith, saying, “Well first of all what keeps me going is faith. And everyone that knows me understands that’s the foundation of who I am.”Her passion for sports has been a lifelong influence. “Well I guess it’s my passion and love for sports. Always. Played sports. Ran track in school. Played basketball at the high school,” she said. Despite facing challenges as a young Black woman in a predominantly white male-oriented environment, Daniels Carter persevered. Daniels Carter is committed to supporting others, offering guidance through her “Power to Win” sessions, where she shares wisdom and knowledge. “I do a session called Power to Win where I’m just giving ten minutes of nuggets of wisdom and knowledge to individuals,” she said. She has also helped start over 2,700 women in business in Africa, each in their own specialty. Following the passing of her brother, Bishop Sedgwick Daniels, Daniels Carter took on the role of executive pastor at Holy Redeemer Church of God in Christ, ensuring his legacy continues. “In the transition of our leader because of the gifts that God has bestowed upon me and placed in my life it was important for me to ensure the legacy never dies,” she said. The church campus offers a range of services, including a health clinic, dental program, and pharmaceutical program for both insured and uninsured individuals. Reflecting on her legacy, Daniels Carter said, “I want it to be that she was a woman that was not afraid to stand up for what was right to invest in what was good, and to do the things that were necessary to be that.” Her involvement in various inspirational projects continues to impact communities locally and globally.
