HAMDEN, Conn. (WFSB) – An investigation is underway following a shooting in Hamden on early Saturday morning.
At around 4:01 a.m., officers were called to “The District” located on Treadwell Street after a report of a gunshot victim, according to the police department.
When crews arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen.
The victim was transported toa nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Officials said he is alert and conscious, and the injury does not appear to be life-threatening.
Shooting occurred during party
Police confirmed the incident occurred during a party inside “The District,” a local establishment, where two people became involved in a physical altercation.
The victim, who was working security at the time, tried to intervene and was shot during the incident.
Officials said there is no known ongoing threat to the public at this time.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
