Small Business Saturday is Nov. 29. The day after Black Friday can be one of the biggest shopping days for local brands and businesses.
SEATTLE — Small Business Saturday is set for Nov. 29 this year – the day after Black Friday.
The Small Business Administration reports this one day can generate billions of dollars of revenue for some 36 million independently owned businesses in the United States.
Every year Made in Washington (MIW) releases a holiday gift guide and 2025 is no different.
MIW vice president and buyer Bill Gates joined KING 5 Weekend Mornings to talk about this year’s guide which includes an array of locally made food items, tea, coffee, glassware, totes, custom holiday boxes, and more.
“It’s important to shop local year-round. It’s probably been a tough year for some companies,” Gates said. “This gives them a job. It gives them great purpose.”
For many businesses, Gates said Small Business Saturday is a major opportunity for brands to not only have a revenue boost but also attract new customers.
Among the items Gates talked about are candy box sets from Bright’s Candies. The handcrafted chocolates have been made in Walla Walla since 1934.
“It’s the lifeblood of our local economies. they do something that’s special,” Gates said. “Attention to detail and just high quality items.”
You can also shop in person at one of MIW’s brick and mortar locations at Pike Place Market, Bellevue Square, and Alderwood Mall.
