LOGAN — The Logan City School District has announced a series of leadership changes, including the retirement of its longtime business administrator and the appointment of new administrative leaders ahead of the 2026–27 school year.
Jeff Barben, the district’s Business Administrator, will retire effective July 1, 2026. District officials expressed appreciation for his years of service and contributions to the district’s operations and financial management.
The Board of Education has appointed Jared Black as the district’s next Business Administrator. Black will officially assume the role on July 1.
Black brings more than two decades of experience in school finance and leadership. He previously served as Business Administrator for Emery County School District for 14 years and spent one year as superintendent. Most recently, he has worked as Business Administrator for the Cache County School District for the past five years.
“Kendra and I met as students at Utah State University, and we love being in Cache Valley,” Black said. “I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to join the Logan City School District team. I believe strongly in the value of education and am excited for the work ahead.”
Board President Becky Quay said the district is confident in the transition.
“On behalf of the Board of Education, we express our deep gratitude to Jeff Barben for his years of service and the positive impact he has made on our district,” Quay said. “We are pleased to welcome Jared Black as our new Business Administrator. His experience, leadership, and strong reputation give us great confidence in the district’s continued success.”
In a separate announcement, the district named Breanna Parker as Assistant Principal of Mount Logan Middle School, also effective July 1.
Parker has served as an administrative intern at the school for the past two years and will replace John Taggart, who has accepted a counseling position at Logan High School.
She brings eight years of teaching experience, including six years teaching fifth grade at Woodruff Elementary, and holds degrees from the College of Idaho, Idaho State University and Utah State University.
“I am deeply honored to step into the role of Assistant Principal at Mount Logan Middle School and grateful to Logan City School District for this opportunity,” Parker said. “Over the past two years, MLMS has become a place that has truly shaped my growth as a leader and holds a special place in my heart. I’m excited to continue serving our students, staff, and families and to support the ongoing success of our school community.”
Liz Dickenson, the district’s Director of Secondary Schools, said Parker has demonstrated strong leadership during her time as an intern.
“She has demonstrated a strong understanding of our district’s foundations of effective instruction and the ability to translate them into daily practice, making her an effective and impactful leader,” Dickenson said. “Her passion for student learning and her commitment to helping teachers understand their impact on student achievement make her an outstanding addition to our team.”
Both appointments take effect July 1 as the district prepares for the upcoming academic year in Logan.
