Louisville police chief reports 2025 crime decline in annual review
During a year-end review on Jan. 8, 2026, LMPD Chief Paul Humphrey says that Louisville’s crime dropped in 2025.
Louisville Metro Police is investigation a death in the Central Business District, according to a news release.
LMPD responded to a report of a person down near the intersection of South Brook and East Gray streets around 6:30 a.m. Jan. 16, spokesperson Adam Sears said. When they arrived, emergency services advised officers that the individual was dead.
MetroSafe officials confirmed a shooting was reported at the scene.
LMPD’s Homicide Unit is leading the investigation.
