Live Nation has announced yet another international expansion – this time in Romania as well as Slovakia, where it now owns pieces of Emagic and Vivien, respectively.

Technically unveiled late last week, that expansion has been flying under the radar amid the promoter’s high-stakes stateside legal battle. Founded in 2005, Emagic has worked with the likes of Metallica, Depeche Mode, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Lady Gaga. Vivien, for its part, lists acts including but not limited to Iron Maiden, Sting, The Offspring, One Republic, Bob Dylan, and Lenny Kravitz on its “history” page.

Throw in substantial growth for Live Nation in neighboring Hungary (which tripled its annual show count across 2022 and 2024), and the Ticketmaster parent evidently believes that the time is right to spearhead local buildouts.

(A bit more context: about half the live music fans in Slovakia and Romania “currently travel to other cities,” presumably referring to cities outside their home countries, for shows. Additionally, roughly 50% of Slovak fans and 40% of Romanian fans “say there aren’t enough events in their area,” per Live Nation. And in both nations, 56% of survey respondents are said to be interested in catching more pop performances.)

While the investing party didn’t disclose the hard numbers behind the plays, it did emphasize that the Emagic and Vivien interests are components of a “long-term commitment” to Romania and Slovakia.

Home to a combined 25 million or so individuals, the nations are set to receive “more shows across more cities, tailored to local tastes and supported by global scale,” Live Nation spelled out.

“From Bucharest to Bratislava,” a spokesperson continued, “fans are telling us they want more live music in their own cities. With so many travelling for concerts and more international visitors building gigs into their trips – this is a pivotal moment to invest in the region’s live entertainment infrastructure.”

Not directly mentioned in Live Nation’s release: The investments’ bigger-picture significance against the backdrop of regulatory woes in the States and elsewhere. Since 2026’s beginning alone, the business has also scooped up Italy’s ForumNet, France’s Paris La Défense Arena (Europe’s largest indoor arena), and Bizarro Peru, to name just a few.

Furthermore, these Q1 2026 deals followed 2025 acquisitions and investments across Japan, Thailand, New Zealand, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and others.
