Kings League, the creator-led sports competition founded by Gerard Piqué, has secured a $63 million investment round led by Alignment Growth, a U.S.-based media and entertainment investor, with participation from existing shareholders. The new capital is intended to accelerate Kings League’s next phase of international growth, combining organic expansion with selective M&A as the organization looks to broaden its global footprint and deepen its platform across both its men’s and women’s properties.
Since launching in Spain in 2023, Kings League has positioned itself as a digitally native sports format designed for younger audiences who primarily discover and consume sports through streaming and social platforms. The league’s product is built around seven-a-side soccer with “gamified” rules meant to keep matches high-velocity and unpredictable, while its teams and competitions are fronted by prominent streamers, creators, and soccer figures. The company says that blend of creator-driven distribution, entertainment-first production, and on-field novelty has helped it scale rapidly beyond its initial market.
The investment is also framed as a catalyst for geographic expansion, including a planned launch in the U.S. Kings League pointed to momentum from its 2025 rollout of additional regional leagues in Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, and the MENA region, alongside the introduction of a national-team World Cup tournament. The company’s broader ecosystem now spans multiple regional men’s and women’s leagues as well as international competitions for both clubs and national teams.
Kings League highlighted its digital performance in 2025 as evidence of product-market fit for its creator-led model, citing 150 million livestreaming hours watched and more than 13 billion impressions across official social channels. Management is presenting those engagement levels as a foundation for expanding into new markets, growing sponsorship and media-rights relationships, and exploring adjacent opportunities that could extend the format into additional sports or new entertainment categories.
Alignment Growth’s lead investment adds an institutional media and entertainment partner to the cap table, with the firm’s Co-Founder and Managing Partner Kevin Tsujihara joining the Kings League board. Kings League’s leadership characterized the partnership as a way to pair the league’s digitally native distribution and creator-driven engagement with media and entertainment expertise as it scales globally and evaluates potential acquisitions.
The company said it has now raised more than $160 million in total funding to support its rollout and ecosystem buildout. Alongside its competition footprint, Kings League has attracted major brand partners and distribution relationships across broadcast and streaming, reinforcing its strategy of meeting audiences where they already spend time rather than relying on traditional sports consumption pathways.
