President Donald Trump says a new round of tariffs is coming, targeting certain furniture and movies made outside of the United States.

The announcement comes as many small businesses are still feeling the effects of tariffs imposed earlier this year.

For 23 years, Donald Person’s hobby-turned-business, Forever Yours Glass Etchings, has created awards and plaques for major companies and municipalities across the Kansas City metro.

“One of the local municipalities, we did 500 Yetis with their city logo and their statement on them,” Person said.

But since the United States placed tariffs on China, Person said he has felt the effects.

“It’s gotten to the point. I mean, it’s too expensive. Ninety percent of our glass comes from China,” Person said.

He added that some companies have started to order less.

“Twenty-five to 27 percent markup by the time I get it. These awards all come from China. These are all solid crystal,” Person said.

Despite the tariffs, he is keeping his prices steady.

“We try to make it more personal,” Person said. “I’m good at what I love. I love what I do.”

Trump’s new tariffs are scheduled to take effect Oct. 1.
