ITB Asia 2025, held in Singapore, serves as a dynamic platform for the global travel industry, offering a stage for businesses, executives, and innovators to share insights and foster growth. As the leading trade show for the Asia-Pacific region, it brings together travel professionals from airlines, hotels, travel tech, and more to discuss trends, challenges, and innovations shaping the future of travel.
Over the course of three days, ITB Asia provides a space for networking, knowledge exchange, and collaboration. This year’s event is particularly significant as it sees a wave of technological advancements, with artificial intelligence (AI) and data-driven solutions at the forefront of discussions, offering solutions to enhance customer experiences, streamline operations, and disrupt traditional models across the travel and tourism sector.
ORCAR: Revolutionizing the Car Rental Experience with Technology
ORCAR, a pioneering South Korean-based car rental company, is revolutionizing the traditional car rental service with a focus on frictionless experiences for international travelers. Initially catering exclusively to local Korean customers, ORCAR has quickly gained attention for its seamless car rental process, making travel more convenient and efficient for tourists.
The company leverages technology to streamline everything from reservations to payments, ensuring travelers enjoy a hassle-free experience. ORCAR is now in the midst of expanding its services to key tourist destinations in Southeast Asia, with plans to extend its reach to Northern Europe and North America. With AI integration and a global payment system partnership, ORCAR is set to become a game-changer in the travel and car rental industry.
At ITB Asia 2025, Jenongki Park, the COO and co-founder of ORCAR, sat down with Travel And Tour World to discuss the company’s journey, its future expansion plans, and the role of technology in transforming the car rental industry.
A Successful Debut at ITB Asia
Jenongki Park kicked off the interview by reflecting on ORCAR’s first-ever presence at ITB Asia. “It’s been great. It’s our first time with our team to be in Singapore as well. I mean, obviously, it is my first time in Singapore as well, and this event for over three days has been amazing,” he shared. He praised the event for its opportunities to network with global industry leaders, remarking on the wealth of knowledge exchanged and how it contributed to shaping ORCAR’s understanding of the evolving landscape of travel, from airlines to car rentals.
The key takeaway from the event, according to Park, was the value of collaboration and sharing insights. “A lot of big companies and executives have been here and shared their knowledge and insights about the industry and what will be changing for the whole travel ecosystem—airlines, hotels, and, of course, the car rental and tech spaces,” he added.
ORCAR’s Focus on Frictionless Car Rentals
When asked about what makes ORCAR stand out in the competitive travel tech and car rental space, Park highlighted the company’s focus on providing seamless and frictionless car rental services. ORCAR’s technology is designed to simplify the entire rental process, making it easy for international travelers to rent cars without the hassle of traditional procedures. “ORCAR is a frictionless car rental company located in South Korea. We really focus on serving international travelers. We were only able to serve Koreans before, but now we’re expanding globally,” Park explained.
This shift to an international market is a pivotal move for ORCAR, positioning the company as a key player in the global car rental sector, particularly for tourists seeking more flexible and personalized services.
Expanding to New Markets: Southeast Asia and Beyond
ORCAR’s expansion plans are ambitious, with the company eyeing key tourist destinations in Southeast Asia by the end of 2025. Park emphasized that the company’s aim is to provide services in regions where tourists typically prefer to rent cars and drive themselves, without the need for chauffeurs or restricted services. “Before the end of this year, we are planning to expand to very high tourist areas in Southeast Asia where travelers are likely to rent cars and drive on their own,” he confirmed.
Looking further ahead, ORCAR has set its sights on Northern Europe and North America. “After Southeast Asia, we are planning to expand to Northern Europe and Northern America,” Park revealed. With the growing demand for self-drive options and the increasing trend of exploring new destinations beyond traditional tourist spots, ORCAR’s expansion could play a significant role in reshaping the car rental market in these regions.
Embracing AI and Technology in the Travel Industry
As a tech-driven company, ORCAR is keen on utilizing AI and other cutting-edge technologies to enhance its offerings. Park explained that the car rental industry is not exempt from the technological shifts that have already transformed airlines and hotels. “Airlines and airports have already adopted AI technologies like biometric identification and personalized services,” he said. Park emphasized that these advancements have the potential to revolutionize the car rental sector as well, making the process more personalized, efficient, and customer-centric.
“Through AI technology, car rental companies can now provide more personalized services, better pricing, and tailored insurance plans without overwhelming customers,” Park elaborated. AI, according to Park, holds the key to improving customer experiences and offering smarter pricing models based on individual needs.
Payment Systems: Seamless and Secure Transactions
A critical part of ORCAR’s technology strategy involves frictionless payment systems. Park discussed the importance of streamlining the payment process for customers, particularly in a global context. “We partner with a global payment company called Stripe, and with Stripe’s AI and verification system, we’re able to accept any credit cards worldwide in any local currencies,” he explained.
This global payment capability, supported by advanced fraud detection and verification technologies, enables ORCAR to offer a seamless payment experience for travelers from various regions. The integration of AI in the payment process is crucial for ensuring that transactions are secure and that customers feel confident in their booking process.
Looking Ahead: The Future of Car Rentals and Travel Tech
Looking toward the future, Park expressed optimism about the role of technology in transforming the travel industry, particularly the car rental vertical. He noted that while many sectors within travel, like airlines and hotels, have already made significant strides in adopting AI, there is still much potential for disruption and innovation within the car rental space.
“AI and other technologies will continue to drive change, not just in car rentals but across the entire travel ecosystem. The possibilities are vast, and we’re excited to be at the forefront of this transformation,” Park concluded.
ORCAR’s Role in the Future of Travel
As the travel industry continues to evolve, ORCAR’s vision of frictionless car rentals for international travelers positions the company as a key player in the changing landscape of tourism. With a focus on AI-driven personalization, seamless payments, and global expansion, ORCAR is poised to disrupt the traditional car rental market and offer travelers a more convenient, flexible, and enjoyable experience.
At ITB Asia 2025, ORCAR’s commitment to innovation and customer-centric solutions was evident, and as the company expands its footprint in Southeast Asia, Europe, and North America, it will be interesting to see how it continues to shape the future of car rentals and travel technology.
