The owners of Jamestown Pie Company recently announced plans to reopen under the new name of Pie & Dine. The restaurant will open in mid-February at 7103 Pocahontas Trail after closing its Jamestown Road location more than a year ago.
“The reason we decided to reopen is very simple,” said Sevinc Danis, who co-owns Pie & Dine with her husband. “Since we closed, people have stopped us on the street, at the (farmers) market and around town saying they still cannot eat pizza because we are closed and asked us to please open again. Hearing that meant a lot to us.”
Pie & Dine will be divided into two sections, with one area focusing on breakfast, coffee and dessert pies, while the other area will offer space for on-site dining. In addition to pizza, wine and beer, “the dining area will also serve authentic Mediterranean food,” Danis said. “We will be making items that are not common in Williamsburg, like kebabs and lahmacun, prepared in a traditional way.”

New wine bar to open in downtown Williamsburg
The Williamsburg Economic Development Authority recently award a revenue-sharing incentive for a new neighborhood wine bar that will open in downtown Williamsburg.
Ricky’s Wine Bar will open this spring at 501 Prince George St. in the space formerly occupied by the Corner BARkery. The new establishment, owned and operated by chef and entrepreneur Riccardo Rinaldi and his wife, Amber, will offer a curated selection of European and Virginia wines by the glass and bottle, along with a rotating menu of small plates inspired by the Italian tradition of aperitivo — a time-honored ritual centered on relaxation, conversation and connection, according to a news release.
“Ricky’s Wine Bar is about creating a place where people feel comfortable coming together, whether it’s for a casual glass of wine, a shared plate or an unhurried evening with friends,” Rinaldi said. “Williamsburg immediately felt like the right community for that vision and we’re grateful for the city’s support as we bring this space to life.”
The EDA approved a revenue-sharing incentive of up to $10,560 for upgrades to the outdoor dining space for use year-round. The incentive will be awarded over time as a partial refund of the local sales and meals taxes generated by the business. Based on projected sales, Williamsburg estimates more than $180,000 in local sales and meals tax revenue over the first five years of operation.
Grand opening held for home care business
The Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Jan. 15 for SYNERGY HomeCare, which recently opened on McLaws Circle.
The new business is owned and operated by Dr. Felix P. Gbee, a U.S. Army veteran, and his wife, Sabita. The Williamsburg location is the third location for the pair, who also operate two offices in Northern Virginia.
As a home care franchisor, SYNERGY HomeCare has more than 220 locations across the country. The company provides a variety of non-medical in-home services including personal care, companion care, memory care and specialized care for those who live with physical or developmental disabilities and chronic health conditions or are recovering from illness or surgery.
SYNERGY HomeCare “fills a real need in this community and provides an alternative to an institution as people age,” John McGlennon, chair of the James City County Board of Supervisors, said during the ribbon cutting. “The service is going to do wonders here.”
Gbee, who served in the military for 18 years, said he chose to open in the Williamsburg area in order to help the veteran population. Gbee and his staff thanked attendees “for being so welcoming. For me, this is not a business, but an avenue for giving back and serving the community.”
The business is located at 460 McLaws Circle, Suite 150. For more information, visit synergyhomecare.com/va-williamsburg-23185.
Old City Barbeque opens new food truck with more plans to expand
The owners of Old City Barbeque, which operate both a food truck and a barbeque restaurant on York Street near The Edge District, recently launched a second food truck called Shuck Wagon that specializes in seafood, including oysters, crab cakes, fish tacos and po’boys. Co-owner Vernon Geddy said the addition of the new food truck is part of a larger expansion of the restaurant. Plans are in the works for a rebrand this spring that will include an extended menu.
“We want to mix it up a bit and be a little bit more than a barbeque spot,” Geddy said.
