The airline ended 2025 having carried over 123 million passengers, up from 113 million in 2024, reinforcing its position among the top 10 global carriers. While the year presented industry-wide challenges, including a major operational disruption from December 3–5, IndiGo quickly restored normal operations and is actively cooperating with regulatory authorities to review the incident.
IndiGo made notable progress in its international strategy, launching long-haul flights connecting India with Manchester, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, and London, facilitated by its wide-body Boeing 787-9 aircraft in partnership with Norse Atlantic Airways. The airline also added 10 new international destinations and 30 new routes, including Seychelles, Krabi, Madinah, Fujairah, and Siem Reap, while restarting direct flights to China from Kolkata and Delhi.
Looking ahead, IndiGo plans to begin non-stop services to Athens from January 23, 2026, marking the international debut of India’s first Airbus A321XLR, which will enable entry into medium- to long-haul markets.
Domestically, IndiGo strengthened connectivity to emerging centres, launching operations at Navi Mumbai, Purnea, Rewa, and adding routes to Hindon, Adampur, Kishangarh, and Bikaner. The airline is also preparing to commence operations from Noida International Airport (Jewar). By year-end, IndiGo’s network spanned 139 destinations, including 97 domestic and 42 international locations.

IndiGo doubled its order for Airbus A350-900 wide-body aircraft to 60, signalling confidence in long-term international growth. The airline also expanded its dual-class IndiGoStretch cabins across 42 aircraft and grew its BluChip loyalty program to over 9 million members.IndiGo deepened its global alliances through codeshare agreements, enhancing connectivity across North America, Europe, and Asia. The airline operated an average of over 2,200 flights per day, transported more than 55,000 tonnes of cargo, and maintained an industry-leading on-time performance for 10 out of 12 months. Plans for a world-class MRO facility with BIAL further underline its long-term operational strategy.
In 2025, IndiGo was named Best Airline in India and South Asia at the Skytrax World Airline Awards and continues to rank among the top 20 airlines globally, generating over USD 10 billion in annual revenue.
CEO Pieter Elbers noted, “2025 was a year of significant execution, expanding both domestic and international reach while learning from operational challenges. We enter 2026 with a strong foundation, focused on scale, innovation, and customer-centric growth.”
With the induction of the Airbus A321XLR, ongoing international launches, and domestic network densification, IndiGo is positioned to continue its trajectory of growth, operational excellence, and global expansion in 2026.
On Wednesday, InterGlobe Aviation’s shares ended the day 0.83% higher at Rs 5,059.50.
