ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – A business helping our neighbors is expanding in Southwest Virginia and wants you to work for it.
ABA of Southwest Virginia is expanding into the Roanoke Valley.
“We are a locally owned and operated group that is dedicated to providing opportunities for people who have special needs to have meaningful activities that align with their interests and their abilities as they exit out of high school and throughout their adult years,” said Meredith Kapalka, founder.
Now, they need to hire more staff as they look to serve more people.
“We will be hiring all direct support professionals with experience, no experience. We are looking to train internally and kind of expand our programs. We are looking for any individual that is excited and has a personality of being ready to go and just be personable with someone, be a friend, be willing to connect and go out in the community with someone and just provide opportunities that maybe an individual with intellectual or developmental disabilities doesn’t get to do on a daily,” said Maggie Smith, Service Manager.
There will be a hiring event at the Virginia Career Works Roanoke Center Friday, November 21, from 9 in the morning to 3:30 in the afternoon.
“If you have the heart for it and you want to make a difference, you can see the results that you’re doing on a day to day basis,” said Smith.
If you are interested, you will need to have a high school diploma and be able to pass a background check.
