MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Saturday was the fourth annual Small Business Saturday Holiday Market.
It’s a day where consumers are asked to shop at small businesses.
Saturday afternoon, the market was held in Mardi Gras Park.
It was sponsored by the City of Mobile Events Department and the Office of Small Business Development.
Local businesses and vendors were on hand to help shoppers find just the right Christmas gift.
Archnique Kidd, the Small Business Development Manager for the City of Mobile, said, “It’s an event that we actually set up so that those businesses that don’t have a brick and mortar location will have somewhere to put on their products as well as their services for the City of Mobile today.”
Charwayne Watson, a vendor, said, “Given the opportunity to come support the Small Business Saturday, I’ve been doing this for about five years and it helps me grow my audience, so I pack up my cards, go on my Facebook Live, so its just an opportunity for me to grow my business.”
There was even a young lady selling lemonade.
Small Business Saturday was founded by American Express in 2010 and officially co-sponsored by the Small Business Administration since 2011
