AVENTURA, Fla. — A former employee of Tap 42 in Aventura was arrested Monday, months after he allegedly burglarized the business, police said.

According to an arrest report, police were called to the Tap 42 restaurant and bar located in Aventura Mall on July 24 in reference to a burglary, but the surveillance video was not clear enough to identify the burglar.

During the investigation, it was discovered that another burglary had occurred at the business at about 4:45 a.m. on June 12.

Police said the same vehicle was used by the burglar in both incidents.

According to the arrest report, a woman who is part of the cleaning crew told detectives that she saw Victor Erick Azamar, 24, inside the business on the morning of June 12 and thought it was odd because there would be no reason for him to be inside the restaurant at that time.

Detectives said surveillance video shows Azamar entering the restaurant and then leaving with what appeared to be a Clase Azul Tequila bottle, valued at $189.99.

The restaurant’s vice president of operations later confirmed after taking inventory that they were missing a Clase Azul bottle.

According to the report, the vehicle seen in the video during both incidents is registered to Azamar.

It’s unclear whether anything was taken during the July break-in.

Azamar, of Miami Beach, was arrested Monday on a charge of burglary of an occupied dwelling. Police said he invoked his right to remain silent.

As of Tuesday morning, Azamar was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $2,500 bond.
