eBay announced its holiday marketing campaign 5 weeks ago, and on Tuesday, the Seller News Team provided an update where it responded to sellers’ questions asked during the recent quarterly Check-in, including tips on how to research trends.

eBay’s global brand campaign is running across TV, digital, radio, and social with the theme eBay Stories, and the commercial is running on “top Social platforms (Meta, Snap, Reddit, & Pinterest) and streaming partners like Netflix & Roku.”

Tuesday’s post also answered the question, “What are the biggest trends and ways we can research trends for the holiday season this year on eBay?”

“Historically during the holidays, we see big spikes in Fashion, Electronics, and Collectibles,” eBay said – and it provided more information about trending items in some of its top categories to help sellers plan ahead.

eBay also pointed to eBay tools such as Listing Inspiration and Product Research “to spot demand, refine your listings, and stock up on what buyers want most,” and it provided the following information for sellers looking for trends and performance data:

Trending Items Summary: Use eBay’s mobile app to access Listing Inspiration, eBay’s new trending categories resource. It’s located in the mobile app in the selling tab. Scroll down to see trending items across major gifting categories with search volume and average sold price. Watch our full Listing Inspiration tutorial on how to use this in integrating with our Product Research tool.

Historical Sold Performance: With Product Research, you can see how products and categories are performing across all of eBay’s marketplaces, with 3 years of actual sold data. See below for how to use Product Research reports to provide an overview of which products and categories are popular, and which strategies are successful in attracting buyers. Watch our Product Research Reports tutorial.”

Tuesday’s post was posted by the eBay Seller News team but may have been written by Ron Jaiven, the new General Manager for eBay North America, who had promised to share insights and answer seller questions throughout peak season in his introductory post last week.
