EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – As ICE operations continue, one Eau Claire business owner is collecting donations for those struggling in Minnesota.
Kristi Schmidt, owner of Truckers Union, says she is collecting basic essentials for residents who are afraid to leave their homes.
Cooking staples, cleaning products and personal care items are all on the list for Minnesota neighbors.
“My mind goes out to all the people that are afraid to leave their homes and aren’t able to get the food and healthcare and the basic daily needs that all of us humans deserve,” said Schmidt.
Schmidt says she will be delivering items to VEAP, a food pantry providing for the Twin Cities community.
Truckers Union will be accepting donations through this Sunday, January 25.
Here is a full list of what items are needed:
- Baking Essentials
- Cooking Oil
- Paper Towels
- Toilet Paper
- Cleaning items
- Personal Care Items (shampoo, toothpaste, etc)
- Shelf-stable tortillas
- Soups
- Canned Protein (chicken, pork, etc.)
