East Salinas business owners met with city leaders on Wednesday to discuss what comes next as the Salinas United Business Association (SUBA) is set to be dissolved. SUBA, long a unifying force for Alisal corridor businesses on cleanup, small-business support, and revitalization projects like the delayed Alisal Marketplace, stalled after its longtime director departed. The city plans to formally wind it down next month.Owners urged City Hall to involve them earlier in major development decisions, streamline permitting and compliance, and improve communication. “Local businesses know how to sell—they need help with permits and compliance,” business owner Ricky Cabrera said.
