CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) – A downtown Cape Girardeau business opened its doors to first responders and those in need, offering a free holiday meal as a way to give thanks.
Employees at Hotshots Bar and Grill prepared plates for EMTs, police officers and the homeless on Thanksgiving Day.
Manager Paul Blaylock said it’s their way of giving back to the people who show up for our community every single day; and to make sure no one goes without a warm meal this Thanksgiving
“This is some of the loneliest times of the year and being in this industry I’ve seen people where they don’t have anybody to go to and it can be very depressing. Even with someone working all day, they can’t be around family, it’s stressful on their families, so we just try to bring a little bit of home for them,” he said.
Blaylock said he hoped this tradition continues, and that first responders know just how much they’re appreciated, especially during the holidays.
