AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – A packed house at the Augusta Municipal Building on Monday night as downtown business owners gathered for an update on the ongoing construction project.
Some left frustrated, saying the session felt more like a listening forum than an update.
Recently, the city hired a public relations firm to improve communication about the project.
During Monday’s meeting, business owners shared concerns about how the construction schedule, potential disruptions and access to storefronts could impact them.
Megan Paquin of Paquin Public Relations acknowledged the concerns.
“Business owners understandably want to address reasonable concerns about the schedule of when construction is going to happen, what the potential issues could be during construction, and how that could impact the accessibility of their business. These are all reasonable concerns,” Paquin said.
She also addressed frustrations over the meeting format, saying one way to improve future sessions would be to post agendas in advance.
