OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. — Destin Commons has now been given the all clear to reopen after a bomb threat was called into the AMC Destin Commons 14 on Sunday.
Deputies in Okaloosa County urged people Sunday to avoid the Destin Commons area as they investigated a bomb threat called into the AMC Destin Commons 14.
Deputies responded to the scene and evacuated people in the immediate area as a precaution while the situation was being resolved.
The 8th Annual Mac & Cheese Festival was canceled because of the threat.
Officials also warned that traffic was backing up in the area and advised drivers to allow extra time or avoid traveling nearby if possible.
“Following a thorough search that included our explosives detection dog and other specialized units, Destin Commons has now been given the all clear to re-open; however, the theater will remain closed at this time,” the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies say several jurisdictions in Florida received similar bomb threats Sunday and that investigations were continuing.
