The owner of a cabinetry business has bought a 15,524-square-foot industrial building in Shelton for $2.3 million, according to land records, and plans to relocate the business from Derby.
Cloud Forest Properties LLC, controlled by Shelton resident Karol Leszczynski, purchased the one-story building at 8 Forest Parkway on Monday. Leszczynski is the owner of Wood Grain Carpentry, which he founded in 2016.
Leszczynski said he plans to move his cabinetry business from a 10,000-square-foot building he leases in Derby into the Shelton property.
“It’s better to own than rent,” he said.
He said he bought a larger building so the company can expand production if needed.
Wood Grain Carpentry, which has 10 employees, began in an 800-square-foot shop in Milford in 2016 before moving to a 4,000-square-foot location in Bridgeport in 2018, then to Derby in 2021.
The Shelton building, which sits on 2.75 acres, was built in 1987 and was vacant at the time of the sale, said Sam Crampton, a broker with O, R & L Commercial who represented Leszczynski in the deal. The property was previously occupied by an outsourced mailing company.
The seller was Pemburn Partners LLC, controlled by Neal and Janine Salvey of Trumbull. They bought the property for $1.75 million in 2007.
The building is appraised at $1.37 million and assessed at $956,130.
