LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A multi-car crash on Saturday afternoon left a Portland neighborhood business damaged.
Louisville police said just before 1 p.m. on Saturday, a collision involving a black SUV and blue sedan ended with the SUV crashing into Mis Nicey’s BBQ Food Mart.
Andre Wilson, who lives upstairs, heard the whole thing.
“I actually heard something go boom,” Wilson said. “It was a little chaotic.”
He said the shop, which sits on the corner of 29th and Market streets, is popular in the neighborhood.
“[They] feed a lot of people at the club, and also the Norton’s track,” Wilson said. “This is a very, very local spot in the neighborhood.”
Injuries to those involved in the crash were minimal, but the building is a different story.
“The BBQ grill was all into the building,” Wilson said. “The business owner is a little shaken up, a little upset. As you can see, the business is going to be shut down for probably about a week or two. There’s going to be a few hungry people in the community and money’s going to be lost. But as long as a life wasn’t lost, everything is going to be okay.”
It isn’t clear what led up to the crash, but Wilson has a message for fellow drivers.
“Please utilize your streets, your directions and signs as best as possible. Things like this won’t happen, there won’t be no hungry people, and this man wouldn’t have to be shut down.”
