March 9 (Asia Today) — Cafe24’s e-commerce app marketplace recorded strong growth last year as demand increased for artificial intelligence-based shopping tools.
The company said Sunday that annual transaction volume on Cafe24 Store reached 67.9 billion won ($50.9 million) in 2025, up about 66% from 40.8 billion won ($30.6 million) a year earlier.
During the same period, cumulative app downloads rose to 264,517, about 60% higher than the 164,961 recorded the previous year.
Cafe24 Store is a platform where online merchants can install applications that add features to their online shops without hiring separate developers.
The apps allow businesses to integrate services such as AI-driven product recommendations, customer relationship management tools and marketing automation systems.
The company said the number of AI-related applications has increased significantly. About 20% of the apps currently listed in the store use artificial intelligence technology.
Developers have expanded services beyond traditional marketing, logistics, payment and inventory tools to include data analytics and customer engagement functions.
Some merchants have reported improved efficiency after adopting the apps.
One company that operates haircare and lifestyle brands implemented a marketing automation service called Hackle, which sends personalized messages based on customer behavior.
For example, the app sends reminders to shoppers who place items in a cart but do not complete a purchase. About 23% of customers who received the messages eventually made a purchase, the company said.
Participation from software developers is also increasing.
An influencer collaboration platform called Linkdi, developed by Lafdi, allows businesses to recruit influencers and track sales and commissions through affiliate marketing.
Since launching on the store in 2023, the service has attracted about 5,000 influencers and generated 6 billion won ($4.5 million) in cumulative transactions.
Cafe24 said it supports developers by providing technical tools and documentation through a dedicated developer portal.
“Online merchants and partner developers are building the ecosystem together,” Cafe24 Chief Executive Officer Lee Jae-seok said. “We plan to continue expanding AI-based e-commerce features.”
