The holiday season, which actually begins with the Black Friday offers, is where retailers are pinning their hopes for profits, as any increase in turnover this year is being wiped out by high operating costs.
The offers, which in many cases actually started in early November, will continue at most businesses over the weekend, while Cyber Monday follows on December 1, with deals mainly in e-commerce.
To turn things around, sales must increase by 10% or 750 million euros in the last quarter of the year, essentially in the period starting on Friday, per the Hellenic Confederation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (ESEE).
