BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (WTVG) – As food banks continue to feel a squeeze due to low funding and higher demand, local businesses are helping out. They are opening food pantries throughout the area, but one in particular is completely free, 24/7 and has no requirements to get food.
It is a small local business that has been around for years, committed to helping dogs and now, amidst a government shutdown and uncertainty with SNAP benefits, they are stepping up to the plate and helping people too.
For this local business in Bowling Green, they are not “fluffin around” when it comes to putting food on the table for families. The business recently opened a 24/7 food pantry.
“There are families out there in dire need of help. If you have kids at home, or even if you don’t and you are home alone and you know, low on money or anything, you know, there is a small little place you can come, no judgment, take what you need, go home and you have at least one meal to get you through the day,” Natasha Woodruff, the owner of Not Fluffin’ Around, said.
Woodruff has owned her business for two years. She said there are many families in need in BG and as a small business owner, she wants to help take care of her community. Her food pantry is completely free to anyone with no requirements.
“Come take what you need,” she said.
The pantry is located right outside of her business on West Gypsy Lane Road. She said opening up the pantry was an idea she got from TikTok after seeing other local business owners do the same.
The pantry opened on Thursday and some of her clients have already made donations.
“I’ve had clients of mine that have donated. They just wanted to help their community as well,” Woodruff said.
She hopes that this act of kindness will spread throughout BG and the other local businesses will consider doing the same.
“Help build Bowling Green. I’m just hoping whoever needs the help will come and get it,” Woodruff said.
