Beloved family meat market in Bryan closing after 6 decades of business

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) -For more than six decades, a local meat market and deli has been a cornerstone of the Bryan community, serving generations of families with quality products and trusted service.

Now, after 66 years of dedication to their craft and their customers, the Ruffino family has announced they’re closing the doors of Readfield Meats & Deli on Texas Avenue for good.

Brothers Richard, Larry, and Roland Ruffino made the bittersweet decision to retire, bringing an end to a legacy that began with their parents. The family says it’s time to step back and focus on what matters most: spending quality time with loved ones.

“We’re grateful for every customer who walked through our doors over the years,” the brothers reflected on their decision. “It’s been an honor to serve this community, and now it’s time for us to enjoy the next chapter with our families.”

The family confirmed the news to KBTX last week.

KBTX’s Rusty Surette will be meeting with the family this week to learn more about their story and decision to close, but the beloved establishment won’t disappear overnight.

Through Easter weekend (ending April 4), customers can shop the full inventory as usual. Beginning April 6, the market will transition to clearance pricing, offering discounted rates on remaining items.

For those holding gift cards, the Ruffino family wants to remind customers that all cards will be honored through the final closing date of April 30. However, they encourage patrons to redeem cards sooner rather than later to ensure the best selection of products.
