As the new year begins, Beaumont small businesses and city leaders are encouraging the community to shop locally to boost economic growth. Trust Bistro, a downtown Beaumont establishment open for two years, emphasizes the importance of local support. “Honestly, it has not been easy,” said Tiffany Guillory, owner of Trust Bistro. “Each person that walks through the door, that purchases a meal, each person that shares our photos on Facebook or Instagram… is keeping another person a job.”
Councilman Joey Hilliard, owner of Hydro-Clean Services, echoed the sentiment, highlighting the community’s role in supporting small businesses. “It’s very important that we as a community support our small business,” Hilliard said. “That’s what community is all about, is coming together to support the people that support us.”
The recent closure of Monterey House after 62 years has sparked reactions from the community, with many saddened by the loss of another local business. “It hurts bad because then I also… that could be me,” Guillory reflected on the challenges faced by small business owners.
