NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – New Orleans police are investigating a barricaded suspect situation involving an adult male.

The incident occurred inside a business in the 2200 block of Canal Street shortly after 8:30 p.m.

Officers from the First District arrived on scene and took the suspect into custody by about 8:45 p.m.

New Orleans police tell us this was an officer-involved shooting.

Authorities are asking residents and motorists to avoid the area.
