LEE COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) – Everyone who knew Jennifer Cooper talks about the impact she made on their lives and the community.
She owned Gigi’s Cupcakes in both Auburn and Columbus. She and her husband, Patrick, opened one of the stores more than a decade ago.
Cooper was killed on Tuesday in a crash involving a school bus on East University Drive in Auburn.
Those who knew her best say Jennifer was a great business owner and an even better person.
An article written in the Opelika Observer just two months ago details how Jennifer donated cakes to children in foster care. Justin Smith’s children attend school with Jennifer’s son and daughter and they also attend the same church. He says Jennifer made a positive impact on every person she met.
“What I would like to do is to remind people, and this came from Patrick, that Jennifer had a servant’s heart,” he explained.
“She loved serving other people, and in her honor, I’d ask people to, number one, go and do something kind for someone else today, and then to share the gospel of Jesus. If there’s one thing I can tell you, I have no doubt about where she is right now.”
Many people have reached out to the Cooper family asking what they can do. In lieu of flowers, her family invites those who feel led to give a gift to StoryTellers Live in honor of Jennifer’s life.
All gifts given in Jennifer’s memory will be used to further the mission she cared about deeply.
