On Nov. 6, 2025, the DOT and FAA announced a temporary 10% reduction in air traffic rates at 40 high-traffic airports nationwide. This proactive measure is intended to ease pressure on air traffic controllers, citing concerns over controller fatigue and stress related to the recent government shutdown and lack of pay.

All stakeholders, including the business aviation community, are focused on maintaining safety in the National Airspace System (NAS). NBAA is in regular communication with the FAA and is working to ensure any impacts are equitable across the NAS.

  • Duration: This temporary order is expected to be removed once the government shutdown is resolved.
