RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee is a beverage truck that opened a month ago in the Black Hills.

Although new to the area, the company has been around since 2020.

“It’s our vehicle that allows us to give back; we really focus on working with communities, schools, and different types of organizations,” Ty Hight, local owner of Travelin’ Tom’s, said.

Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee serves a variety of drinks.

“Everything from matcha, to coffee, to hot chocolate, hot cider, chai, refreshers, lemonade, cold brew, nitro cold brew, there are lots of options,” Hight said.

Besides serving beverages, they also serve the community.

“We’re always open to new strategies on how we can help the people that you would like to cater to. Or how we can enhance an event that you may be having, whether that be a percentage of sale, or whether that be free coffees for teachers, things of that nature,” Hight said.

On top of serving up fresh brews and the community, Travelin’ Tom’s truck also caters to the environment.

“There’s no generator, there’s no fumes, it’s self-contained that we’re able to run year-round and cater to all types of events,” Hight said.

The truck is powered by a lithium battery.

“It’s a more eco-friendly way to go about it. It also eliminates the noise factor, and it eliminates the fumes factor,” Hight said.

The company strives to be well-rounded to its customers and the environment.

“When you leave, you’re happy, you enjoy the drink you have, you’ve had a genuine conversation, a smile, a laugh, and you leave knowing that was something more than just coffee,” Hight said.
