HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, MI – A series of three back-to-back burglaries of businesses took place early Saturday morning in Holland Township.
Thousands of dollars of vaping and smoking products were stolen from the businesses, in addition to thousands of dollars of property that was damaged in the process of the break-ins, according to Sgt. Michael Tamminga, of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at approximately 3:07 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25 to Sweet Fire Tobacco, 520 Butternut Dr., for a burglar alarm.
Police arrived to find the business had been broken into.
Within a short time, deputies responded to a second alarm at Inline Vape, located at 3155 West Shore Dr., to find that business broken into as well.
A short time later, deputies responded to the Pine Creek Mobil Mart, a gas station at 945 Butternut Dr., on a third report of the business being broken into.
Investigation revealed that the three incidents are related. The businesses are all within two to three miles from each other.
At least two suspects “forced their way in by breaking in the front door and shattering the glass on all three businesses,” Tamminga said.
The suspects stole “all different kinds” of smoking and vaping products, like vapes, Tamminga said.
He said he believed all the businesses were still able to open as normal on Saturday.
This incident remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office or Silent Observer at 1-877-88-SILENT (745368) or mosotips.com.
“We’re still trying to identify the suspects, so if anybody that’s got information (would call us) that would be greatly appreciated,” Tamminga said.
